Chicago Tech Academy (Chicago Tech) is a high school in the Chicago University Village in Pilsen. Chicago Tech Opened in September 2009 as the city's first technology high school. The building was formerly Joseph Medill Elementary School. After being open for 5 years, the school was partnered with High Tech High in an attempt to stay open.[citation needed] With the partnership, they received a new principal and school support system, and transitioned to project-based learning.

Chicago Tech Academy has transformed teaching and learning by focusing on professional development and professional learning communities.

Chicago Tech Academy is rated a 2 out of 10 by GreatSchools.org, a national school quality information site. [1] GreatSchools’ Summary Rating is based on four of the school’s themed ratings: the Test Score Rating, Student or Academic Progress Rating, College Readiness Rating, and Equity Rating and flags for discipline and attendance disparities at a school.
